Grammy teaches how to garden organically
Gardening Organically is easy with a guide like Grammy.

Grammy wants you to learn how to garden and how to garden organically.

Why me? I started gardening organically in the mid-seventies when I bought my first house.  I wasn’t a Grammy then, and I had a lot to learn. Many houses later and many gardens later, I became a Bexar County Master Gardener, and an organic farmer and started the first CSA in San Antonio.  Master Gardeners joke that to become a Master Gardener you have to kill 500 plants.  I always like to be an overachiever so I have killed many more than that.

The good thing about all those years (besides the tears of laughter as well as the tears of sorrow) is that many lessons were learned about how to garden organically methods in the inhospitable climate of Texas.  Heat can burn up the most determined of plants. Just when you think it will never rain again, the rain comes suddenly and drops a years’ worth and then departs for another year.  (I learned how to use hyperboles in my years, too; just a warning.)

I don’t know everything. Everything I learn teaches me there is so much more to know about organic gardening. What I do know I will share on my blog. What I don’t know, I will tell you and tell you what I am going to try next. I promise not to recommend google stuff that I haven’t personally tried. If I recommend a tool, I will personally have tried it. I will tell you my failures along the way, and my successes.

Grammy’s Texas Garden is intended to help especially beginning organic gardeners get started. Try out the Start Here post. I want to help you avoid some of the bumps in the road that come from coaxing flowers and vegetables from the unwilling Texas earth.  And as you are coaxing your plants to grow, you will contribute to the environment by organically gardening and not adding a ton of chemicals to the earth. If you’re not from Texas, you might find some helpful tips too.

My favorite thing is to laugh together. I hope you will join me and laugh too while we learn as we grow together.
